Thoughts

Thoughts. Wondering. Pondering. Thinking. Sometimes you take a break and leave the blog empty. Now, thoughts roll in like a tidal wave crashing on top of you and you are trying to catch your breath as you drown in the sea of thoughts.

Sometimes we think we have everything just perfect in our lives. I believe that is why storms crop up and rear its ugly head within our lives. It rocks our boat of comfort to see if we will jump ship. It rocks our boat of comfort to see if we will fight the fight and bail out those issues which seem to make its way on deck.

Amazing how several men are professionals. Able to handle the troublesome issues within the realm of their profession, and yet in a single moment, the wind rocks the boat. Waves crashing. A furious squall batters at the boat and the passengers within.

Curious as to their thoughts and human thoughts create the fear and negative self-talk. “Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
Teacher got up and said: "Quiet! Be still!"

I have never fully realized the context of Mark 4:39 and the power of three words. It is true the winds stopped and it was completely calm. Yet, I believe Jesus was talking more than just to the storm.

He is talking to you and me. We go into a panic mode and we forget our professionalism and lack of confidence and faith. We forget who is in charge of our lives. They forgot who they spoke to in the cabin below.

"Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

When Jesus asks us to be still and to be quiet; why are we still afraid? Why do we lack in our faith during troubling times and when we make it through we wonder how we made it through.
When trouble strikes in your life the positive attribute is to think of being quiet and still. Don’t panic. Watch the thoughts and be careful of the tidal wave which could be too much to bear. Being a professional doesn’t mean you know or that you can control everything.

Why are you so afraid?

My fear stems from not allowing Him to control my life enough to allow the peace that fully passes all my understanding. Therefore, be quiet and be still and allow the spirit to reflect upon the Savior. Like water which may be churned, but still reflects the image it holds.

Be still

Put the pen down. Tuck away the keyboard. Take a break from life. Breathe in the air that God first put into your heart. Meditate on the words and feel the peace of stillness.
